TECHNICAL FEATURES AND SERVICES
Portopiccolo is an ambitious and large-scale project. It is an eco-sustainable village located in the heart of the Gulf of Trieste, created through an environmental recovery and urban redevelopment initiative that led to the complete restoration of the former Sistiana Bay quarry, which was abandoned in the 1970s.
Today, this seaside village, nestled among the surrounding cliffs and beautifully overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Upper Adriatic, includes 454 elegant sea-view residences, a marina with 116 berths, one of Italy’s best beach clubs, boutiques, and about ten venues including bars and restaurants, as well as the only 5-star hotel in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and a SPA offering personalized treatment programs.
The concept is spread over three levels, with an additional underground floor dedicated to parking and service areas, for a total area of 3,600 square meters. The wellness focus permeates the entire structure, beginning with a more communal and shared experience on the ground floor and transitioning to more private and intimate spaces as one ascends through the floors.
The ground floor houses the reception, children’s room, conference rooms, hairstyling studio, training pool, and all the changing rooms dedicated to the pool on that level, the facilities on the upper floors, and the previously established system of outdoor pools.
The entrance features an impressive covered portico, welcoming guests and leading them into the structure. The building is entirely glazed, allowing for seamless integration between the interior and exterior.
The result is a complex that merges with its surroundings, perfectly fitting into the context with strong emotional appeal and offering an unparalleled range of services compared to neighboring regions, with the ambition to attract a significant customer base.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
In line with the contemporary concept, the village is developed through zero-impact architecture that is safe, sustainable, and accessible, offering personalized solutions tailored to the needs of the clients. Respecting environmental sustainability, Escape was tasked with completing the final architectural and systems design, providing an integrated design service and site supervision. The system design aimed to achieve efficiency and reliability in the chosen solutions, with particular attention to the rationalization of traditional energy sources and their ease of management and maintenance. Thus, the complex was equipped with solutions carefully focused on reducing energy consumption, using renewable energy sources wherever possible.
